Tonja’s Toffee Pairing Guide:

Elevate Your Sweet Experience (Or Just Your Snack Game)

Welcome, flavor explorers! You've landed at Tonja’s Toffee Pairing Guide, where we're all about helping you make your toffee moments more epic.  While we each have our go-to top picks, there is no denying each variety of Tonja’s Toffee has its place in everyday enjoyment.  Whether you're a coffee connoisseur, a wine enthusiast, or just want to see if you can make your taste buds do a double-take, we've got you covered.

1. Toffee and Coffee: (our personal favorite)

  • Espresso: Our Dark Chocolate Almond Toffee with espresso is a no-brainer for a morning treat or an afternoon boost. The espresso and dark chocolate perfectly offset the toffee's sweetness, with the almonds adding to the rich depth of your cup o' joe.

  • Latte (or Cappuccino): For a creamier experience, pair our White Chocolate Almond Toffee with a frothy latte. The milk and white chocolate tone down the coffee's sharpness, allowing the nutty flavors to shine.

  • Cold Brew: For a fresh take on the classic pick-me-up, our Milk Chocolate Almond Toffee with cold brew coffee is like summer in a cup. Add a dash of vanilla syrup for an ice cream coffee float vibe. (check out the last section for more on toffee and ice cream!)

2. Toffee and Tea:

  • Chai: Our Milk Chocolate Almond Toffee with the spice mix of chai tea is a treat made for sitting by the window on a wintery afternoon.

  • Matcha: For something truly unique, try our White Chocolate Toffee with a matcha latte. The earthy, grassy notes of matcha complement the sweet, buttery toffee with a finish of white chocolate to sweeten it up!

3. Toffee and Wine:

  • Port: Dark Chocolate Toffee with port wine is a luxurious end to any meal. The wine's sweetness brings out the deep, caramelized flavors of the toffee and nuts, while harmonizing with the dark chocolate.

  • Dessert Wines: Our Milk Chocolate Almond Toffee with a glass of Riesling or Muscat is a dessert in itself. Chill the wine slightly for a crisp, refreshing contrast to the creamy milk chocolate.

4. Toffee and Cheese:

  • Sharp Cheddar: Our Salted Toffee with sharp cheddar is a surprising, yet delightful combination. Serve on a wooden board with some fresh thyme for an artisanal touch.

  • Blue Cheese: For the adventurous, blue cheese’s pungency pairs wonderfully with the Classic sweetness of Milk Chocolate Almond Toffee.  Add dried cranberries for a sweet, tangy contrast.

  • Brie: Our Butterscotch Almond Toffee with creamy Brie is like a sweet and savory symphony. A drizzle of honey can elevate this pairing to gourmet status.

5. Toffee and Fruit:

  • Apples: Salted Toffee and fresh apple slices, or hot apple cider are autumn in a bite. The fresh, crisp apples provide a refreshing contrast to toffee’s richness, with a sprinkling of salt to make the flavors do a little dance.

  • Berries: Dark Chocolate, or White Chocolate… maybe Butterscotch or Salted… honestly there is not a best choice here, which means the correct answer is all of them!  Pair raspberries, blackberries and strawberries for a burst of freshness with all of our sweet, buttery toffee varieties for a guaranteed crowd pleasing charcuterie board.

  • Bananas: One of our favorite after-school snacks, a banana dipped in melted milk chocolate chips, gets leveled-up with our Milk Chocolate Almond Toffee.  Adding a sprinkle of coconut flakes can transport this to a beachside snack.

6. Toffee and Ice Cream: (ok, this!... this is the best! Anyway you like your ice cream throw some toffee on top and it’s a winner, but here are some of our out of the box combos you’ve gotta try.)

  • Ice Cream Float: Grab a glass of your favorite soda (that’s right, it doesn't have to be Root Beer or Coke), a scoop of vanilla ice cream, and whichever toffee floats your boat.  Then, finish with a generous sprinkling of toffee pieces.  Either a Milk Chocolate Dr. Pepper float or a White Chocolate Root Beer float are particularly magical here.

  • Coffee Ice Cream: Coffee Toffee on top of vanilla ice cream!  The vanilla creaminess, chocolate, rich toffee, and coffee… it’s like they were all made for each other!  Just waiting for you to mix them up and enjoy (or devour, we completely understand).

  • Mint Chocolate Chip: Try our Milk Chocolate Toffee with mint chocolate chip ice cream to double-down on the perfect pairing of chocolate and mint, with the added sweet, richness of toffee.
